The boat shed on Crater Lake.
Another view of the boat shed with Crater Lake in the background.
The view ahead looking towards Marions lookout.
Looking back towards Crater Lake on the left and Dove Lake on the right.
It was starting to get steep in places.
One way up, chain and post to pull yourself up the steps.
Looking back across Crater Lake.
Near Marions lookout Cradle Summit is on the far right.
Crater Lake looking back towards Ronny Creek.
This is the top of the gorge in the photo's we took when walking around Dove Lake. The wind was starting to pick up and it was aslo starting to cool down pretty quick.
View across towards the kitchen Hut and the base of the summit walk. The Overland Track turns off at the first ridge above the kitchen hut.
One of the many signs to help you find your way.
Craddle from the Kitchen Hut.
The Kitchen hut.
Looking back across the valley with the Kitchen Hut mid picture.
Dove Lake.
The steel posts are all you have to guide you across the rocks I put all my wet weather gear on here as the wind was that strong it was actually blowing me over and the sleet was just starting.
The wind was actually making the rain / sleet fall upwards.
It wasn't an easy climb up these rocks with the wind.
Got over the top and started going down. You can see people coming down the track on the other side of the valley. Talking with them they suggested not to go any further as it was getting pretty wild up on top. Not the advice you need from people who were not dressed for the weather and had no safety equipment.
The summit, rain, sleet and the wind noise is like nothing I have heard before.
The summit cairn. Trying to set the camera it kept blowing over.
Looking back from the summit.
The next shots are a 360 panoramic view.
Starting back down. I took the wrong turn and went down a track that wasn't the best choice in the weather conditions so I turned around and came back down the same way I came up.
Rocks were pretty slippery from the rain and sleet.
Some snow from a previous fall, possibly the same fall of snow when we were at Tarraleah.
